Bone Augmentation

Increase bone volume for implantation

Service overview

Bone Augmentation

Bone augmentation is a surgical procedure that rebuilds lost bone volume in the upper or lower jaw so that a dental implant can be placed securely. We use bone substitute materials and specialised membranes, and in many cases apply guided bone regeneration (GBR), a technique that encourages the body to regenerate its own bone tissue exactly where it is needed.

Who benefits

Ideal candidates for this treatment

The procedure is intended for patients whose bone volume or quality does not allow safe implant placement. This most often concerns patients after tooth extractions performed long ago, with bone loss caused by periodontal disease, or after trauma. Qualification is always preceded by a CBCT scan and an individual assessment of the bone conditions.

When needed

Clinical indications

  • Bone loss after tooth extraction
  • Long-term tooth absence leading to loss of bone volume
  • Bone defects caused by periodontal disease
  • Bone loss resulting from trauma or complications
  • Insufficient bone volume before planned implant placement

Treatment path

Treatment stages

  1. 1

    CBCT diagnostics

Three-dimensional imaging allows precise assessment of bone volume, density and shape

  2. 2

    Procedure planning

Selection of the augmentation technique, bone substitute material and membrane, coordinated with the implant plan

  3. 3

    Augmentation procedure

Placement of the bone substitute material and membrane under local anesthesia, with tight wound closure

  4. 4

    Healing and integration

A period of 4-9 months during which the material remodels into fully functional bone tissue

  5. 5
